January 7 is National Tempura Day. I've had ice cream tempura in a few local restaurants. Don't think I have the skills or inclination to duplicate that. I've had Fried Oreos, but that's not quite the same as Oreo Tempura. This recipe is from Sarah Lasry of Kosher Street. Although I posted this recipe a few years ago, I still haven't made this.

Set aside. (This is for draining the fried Oreos) In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center of the bowl and add egg, vanilla extract, and butter. Stir just the wet ingredients to break up the egg. Next pour in the milk. Stir the batter until everything is combined.

We loved the appetizers, sushi rolls and even the Oreo tempura dessert. We didn't get the all you can eat because we wanted to try several items first - but it does seem like a great deal especially if you plan to get mainly sushi! We paid about $90 for two people with hot tea, 2 appetizers (sesame balls and veggie tempura), side of fried rice.
